A welcoming space for therapy

Hello, I'm Katia. For the past 10 years, I have called the Northern Rivers home, developing a strong appreciation for the region and a meaningful connection with its communities.

I'm happy to welcome you to my therapy room at the Center for Mind Body Wellness in Mullumbimby, where I offer individual psychotherapy and couples counselling in a supportive environment.

Life and relationships can be overwhelming. You may be facing anxiety, relationship challenges, life transitions, or a sense of disconnection. Whatever your reason for seeking support, therapy offers a space to pause, reflect, and gain deeper insight into yourself and your relationships.

My approach is grounded in Gestalt psychotherapy and is relational, trauma-informed, and neuroaffirming. I tailor our work to your unique needs, experiences, and priorities.

I'm a Master's-qualified Gestalt Psychotherapist and Certified Practicing Counsellor, registered with PACFA. To learn more about my background and approach, please visit my About Me page.

Individual psychotherapy and counselling

People seek individual therapy for many different reasons. Some are looking for support with a particular difficulty, while others wish to explore broader concerns, better understand themselves, or navigate challenges in their personal lives and relationships.

Individual therapy offers a confidential, supportive space to explore experiences and concerns at your own pace. This may include anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, questions relating to identity and belonging, or significant life changes. Therapy can also provide an opportunity to develop greater self-awareness, explore patterns in relationships, and consider new ways of responding to life's challenges.

I have a particular interest in working with autistic and ADHD adults and offer a neuroaffirming approach that recognises and respects different ways of thinking, communicating, and experiencing the world. My practice emphasises understanding, acceptance, and collaboration, with attention to each person's individual needs, experiences, and strengths.

I welcome adults from diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, and aim to provide an inclusive and non-judgemental therapeutic environment.

Individual psychotherapy in Mullumbimby is available on Wednesdays, with 60-minute sessions.

Couples counselling and relationship therapy

When challenges arise in a relationship, seeking support can feel uncomfortable or overwhelming. You may question whether your concerns warrant help, feel hesitant to open up to someone new, or worry about the impact of taking that first step.

These feelings are natural. Relationships are complex, and even the strongest connections face periods of difficulty, uncertainty, or disconnection.

In couples counselling, I want to understand your unique relationship. Together, we look at what happens between you, how each of you feels in those moments, and what could change when you both understand your usual reactions better.

I use Gestalt psychotherapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples (EFCT), the Gottman Method, and Relational Life Therapy (RLT) in my work. I adjust my approach to fit each couple, blending relationship exploration with practical steps to build awareness, take responsibility, and work through challenges together.

Couples counselling in Mullumbimby is available on Wednesdays, with 90-minute sessions.

Fees and ongoing therapy

I recognise that engaging in ongoing therapy is both a personal and financial commitment, particularly in the current economic climate. For those seeking longer-term therapy, I offer a range of fee arrangements that can be discussed individually, with the aim of making ongoing therapeutic work financially sustainable and accessible.

I live and work on Bundjalung Country, on unceded land. I acknowledge the Bundjalung people as the Traditional Custodians and honour their living connection to land, waters, and community. I recognise that colonisation is ongoing and continues to shape the field we all live within.

My practice is inclusive and affirming of LGBTQIA+ people, people with disabilities, and people from diverse cultural and neurodivergent backgrounds. I welcome people across different sexualities, gender identities, relationship structures and lived experiences, and aim to provide therapy that is respectful, accessible and responsive to individual needs. I recognise the impact that discrimination, stigma and barriers to inclusion can have on mental health and wellbeing.
